I wonder where the intake is for the ventilation. My previous IS was not nearly as loud. I'm on the fence with performance at this point.
I heard this noise today and it freaked me out... I couldn't figure out what it was

i think is a design thingy. when we sit on it, our butt block all the vented hole.

i remember the 3rd gen ac seat worked better. really cooling and it is obvious in Singapore coz it is so hot here all year long!

I turned off everything except the seat fan. I could feel something running but I don't hear as loud as the passenger's side. I don't think it got any cooler yesterday when I drove home. I'm going to have the dealer check on this for me. I'm more nervous now.

The seats are NOT cooled. They're just fans, so yeah, if you get in your 1000* car and just turn the seat fans on, I'm not surprised you felt no cooling.

Pardon my choice of word. I don't expect it to cool off like the air but I expect it to be less hot/warm. If you have a fan in front of a hot object, wouldn't you expect it to cool down too?

Go check how "cool" the air is that your A/C on your house is putting out of the outside compressor. Fans do nothing buy circulate the air they surround.

You mean the air that blows out of the A/C compressor top? Thats not a good analogy, that air is hot because the A/C compressor is releasing heat into it from the air thats drawn across the coils. Thats not a fan.

Shut your compressor off and just run the fan and feel what comes out of the vents in your house. It will still feel cool to the touch.

i definitely feel cool air on mine(i know it's just ventilated), and it works, don't use it much, but it works.

on a side note, are there actual cooled seats? or does every manufacturer just used ventilated?

also, my friends 2008 GS has ventilated seats, pretty surprising, didn't think they've been out for so long.
