Pretty sure led headlights aren't plug and play. Leds require more cooling and looks like the whole headlight is different even the side markers are located elsewhere

Curious to see the plug on the hybrid lights. It may just need to be repinned

+1 on this subject and I'm glad I did a search before starting a new thread. I would absolutely be interested in this upgrade on a 2013 GS-350. I'm in California, BTW.

As an aside, it really gripes me to see so many regional differences in options that are available on automobiles- some on the same continent, even. If these LED headlamps are DOT approved in the USA for the GS-450h, Lexus should at least give GS-350 buyers the option to upgrade theirs.

Soapbox stowed.

kenchow how did your upgrade turn out?

LEDs run cool, so not sure what cooling you're referring to? Xenon runs HOT!

While they do run significantly cooler than xenon, they are much more sensitive to heat and subsequently their life diminishes rapidly. I have a 2000 lumen led flashlight and I was surprised at how hot it gets for an led. I can just imagine with a much more powerful x000 lumen headlight.

What's the advantage of LED headlamps on the car? Is it just the cool factor? I can see hybrids/electrics using LEDs as they are concerned with power consumption but for us fossil fuel cars?

I personally really like Xenon HID lights when focused properly.

That's correct. LEDs run cooler but there is still a lot of heat emitted at the bottom of the emitter. I know my SureFire tactical flashlight gets really hot if I have it on for more than a few minutes.

What is the lumens rating on the oem LED?

I got curios and checked out the vled sight and they now have 1200 lumens LED? Checked out youtube and they have higher lumens LED that you can retro fit in there.

Does the new Acura RLX have jewel led headlights? Might go out to one and check it out. I saw one at my dealer but it was in the daytime and asked the guy to turn the lights on. Its bright but cant see beam pattern! But those GS lights are tight and like most people say not 6000 for it though!

I dont know about the LED headlight but the OE LED foglight is rated 3500cd. So I assume the LED headlight will have at least of that.
