Service for life of vehicle sounds like a steal (and reason to drive it into the ground). Good job!

i am very glad that the dealership took care of you, service for life that's fantastic!

From my seat, for you to take care of the windshield replacement with your own insurance was an entirely unacceptable solution. I suspect the dealer couldn't sell the "hidden or latent defect" scenario. I had a similar issue with my dealer on a crack in some carbon fiber in my '08 IS-F but was able to get "loud" enough in the dealership for them to shut me up by taking care of it. Anyway, glad you got the glass replaced.

I agree, free service for life is amazing - especially for something they could have easily just let you deal with via insurance and not given anything extra. Props to the dealership

what kind of service for life they giving? is it include the 60k 100k maintenance? I pretty sure they wont cover those.

Thanks for all the feedback. Am more than upset that on the first day of getting the car there was a defect. Had been with both Infiniti and BMW over the past 15 years and never had a problem. Wondering if this is the first of other "defects" I may find. While I would like to just get a new one, I know I'm probably in no position for that to happen.
So, dow do I assure that an after-market is not installed? Thanks. |
Missing my GS!
I took her in for the 5,000 mile service, but I also had a dent in the door and curb rash on two wheels (our curbs are ridiculously high in Dallas). I also had a small dent in the aluminum trim on the cupholder door (I have no idea how it happened). I bought the wheel/tire package and the paintless dent package so those are covered. Sewell Lexus was nice enough to replace the aluminum cover at no charge as a "goodwill gesture", but it seems the whole unit has to be replaced and it won't be in until Thursday.
They gave me the choice of driving an IS or a CT as a loaner car, so I took the CT since I know nothing about hybrids. It is actually a sweet-handling little car. Just don't race anyone from a stoplight.;) The good thing is, it is so slow that my GS is going to feel like a GTR by the time I get it back.:D I want them to get all the work done. I just miss my GS and I realize how lucky I am to drive it everday! |

stress cracks are no so rare

Final verdict: they think that a tiny crack in the very corner where the passenger side front windshield starts is what caused what really looks like a stress fracture across the windshield. The dealership went to bat for me with Lexus Corporate but supposedly they weren't going to do anything about it. Since I do have full windshield coverage, they suggested I use my insurance (which costs me nothing) and they would take care of service for the life of the vehicle.
Thought it was fair enough and didn't want to get aggravated over this and want to just enjoy the car. OEM glass was used yesterday and the car is in a 2 day recovery, will be detailed again and delivered to me like a new car again on Monday. Will finally be able to post pics next week! |
