I was driving back from Myrtle Beach to Charlotte and had a weird experience with the nav system. It's mostly secondary highway and no interstate so many options. I decided to deviate a little from what the nav system was telling me because I knew the area. Once I went past the point where the nav system wanted me to turn, it kept telling me to do a u turn and go back to get on the road it originally wanted me to take. I've seen this before, but usually the system stops telling you to do a u turn and figures out the best route once going back doesn't make sense. This time however, the system kept telling me to do a u turn for over an hour. It wasn't until my route matched up with the original route in the system that it figured it out. It was telling me to back track for over an hour and a half travel time when I was only 10 min from home. Since I knew where I was going, it didn't matter, but I'd be pissed if I wan in an area that I didn't know and the nav system was taking me on a merry go round ride. Anyone else ever had this problem?

 

Yes, it has happened to me, but I think it is a matter of reprogramming your routing to eliminate freeways, etc. so the car will understand what you are attempting to do.
