No. The bypass is making your car think it is in Park with the parking brake on. Therefore, the car should theoretically not be moving. Once you turn the bypass off, the map will update and show your location.
Still debating since lately i've used the iPhone 5 map/ google apps more than the GS. Just so much easier to enter address and go. Whereas the GS nuvi requires too many buttons to press.
Perhaps with the bypass I'll give it a chance. Right now it's just a fancy screen for me.
When you by-pass the navi to watch DVD's while you drive...does the navi go crazy and forget its location?
In other words, can you watch a DVD and use the navi at the same time?

the dvd override is engaged at ALL times and does NOT require navi override. so the map / guidance will continue to work even when you watch dvd!
this is one great thing about the new lexus, the two override is "separate", same with most 07-09 models. the 10-12 models were the bad ones where you need to override nav in order to enable dvd
most people they are very excited when i explain that they can be playing videos and guidance continues to work in the background

So is this the only trim piece that needs to be removed? Then take the stereo out with the 10mm bolts?
indeed, pretty much, and then the bolts. now you see how ridiculously simple it is. this was not the case with the first setup. but they improved the setup and now it's so simple

there is no more switch. you use the volume button on steering wheel to activate (- - + +)

i saw this, it's pretty awesome (it's a 4gs in that picture). you will still need the override to enable the video, but basically you can play video from ipod / iphone / android / dvd player, etc... through composite
