^^Wow that's a pretty cool trick

P.S.
I assume that first option just displays the Lexus logo statically (as in no animations or video motions)

I had assumed incorrectly that this Internet access was provided by the Lexus Enform connection.

According to the pricing tab at http://www.lexus.com/enform/, Lexus Enform is required for the apps to work and in addition, you must pay an extra $7/month for the apps to work. This would make sense if the apps were supported using the embedded cellular device in the car via your Lexus Enform subscription but neither of those requirements make sense at all given that you're providing your own phone, Internet access and apps in your own car.

I don't have to pay Apple a monthly fee to run my software on the computer they sold me.

yeah i'm quite sure, because on the two 4GS i've tried, there was no cool animated start-up screen, and i was wondering why. didn't know it had to be changed in the menu. i think the one in the original post is the coolest!

i agree, i'm still racking my brain trying to find a justifiable means to charging you. everyone getting this gs is going to have it free for a year, so maybe by then the pricing schedule will be updated.

It would be neat if I can have that on a 4GS that I'll get (with the cool piano start-up tune)
Yeah only the Japanese has the different start up tone (similar to Zojirushi rice cooker style tones). Here in North America we only have that one standard tone. As for the start up splash screen, we only have 3 standard (2 animated) start up splash screen options. Then there are 3 spaces for non animated picture files. One day we'll be able to customize the start up tone and the animated sequence. Baby steps haha.

I wonder if it really needs to be non-animated - has anyone tried to upload a gif image, just as a test?

Technical difficulties. I was on the phone with Mike earlier trying to figure out why his thumb drive wasn't found by the system. Will try something tonight.

Yeah thanks for the help. I literally only have 3 JPEG images on the flashdrive and it just continues to say "no files found". I brought my laptop in the GS and could not figure it out, the pics show on the flashdrive.

Its on pages 322-330 or so in the manual FYI.....

Will try to work on this tomorrow
