How To Replace Door Check
Figured I'd share a writeup on how to do this. I did a quick search and didn't see another one.
If your door is extra noisy when opening/closing, it's probably the door check. Please do not spray WD-40 into the door jam area in an attempt to solve this, it won't do anything. The door check is a mechanical part that eventually wears out over time. The only resolution is replacement of the door check.
In my case, the drivers door was noisy. This will be common for obvious reasons. The other doors are okay. The passenger door is making just the slightest of noise, but it's not bad enough to deal with it, so I'll consider replacing it later if it gets worse.

Removal of the old door check is simple -
NOTE: Some of the clips for your door panel will likely remain on the door instead of coming out with the panel. You'll need a decent removal tool to actually get these out, otherwise you'll damage them. If you don't want to worry about damaging them, just buy some replacement clips from the dealer before you begin the job. In my experience, three of them stayed on the car.

Removal of the old door check is simple -
- Remove negative battery cable. Don't try this without doing this because you may run into car alarm issues or airbag light issues when disconnecting the power window switches. Ask me how I know (I learned on an RX 300).... just disconnect the battery.
- Remove drivers door panel
- There are three screws to remove first
- Screw 1 - Pop the plastic cover off from behind the drivers door handle. Pull handle back, use a pry tool to pry the plastic cover off. Pry from left side. It pops right out.
- Screw 2 - Pry the window switches out. You'll need to work a pry tool around and pop two clips, one on the left and one on the right side if you're looking at the door panel. Disconnect the switches, set the assembly aside. The screw you're looking for is right behind the panel.
- Screw 3 - Remove the tiny piece of carpet in the door handle area. You can pry it out with a pry tool or some sharpish object. The screw is under the carpet.
- Remove the door panel by prying around the edges on the bottom. The clips will just pop out. Once the bottom, left and right side are free, wiggle the panel upwards and pull it up and out. You'll need to disconnect the puddle light, connector for the ambient lighting, the two wires that connect for the door handle and lock, and there's one other connector (not sure what it's for exactly but it's for something..)
- There are three screws to remove first
- Do not remove the plastic water barrier on the top, right side close to the door check. This will cause a big mess and I found you can simply remove the speaker to get to the door check.
- Remove the speaker
- Disconnect the small connector on top
- Remove nuts (4 x 10mm nuts)
- The speaker is kinda "stuck" to the door since it's been there for so long, so you pry a bit. Begin prying on the bottom because there's a small tab on top that holds it into the door, then pull it out and set it aside.
- Remove 10mm nuts on the door check
- 2 x 10mm nuts on the door side, 1 10mm nut on the chassis side
- Remove the door check by pulling it through the door frame and out the speaker hole.

Whoa, this is good stuff. I am about to replace mine as its worn out. Had the door cards off before so I am pretty prepared, but its good to see replacing the door check is as simple as I expected.
Good call on the clips, I have found the REXKA amazon replacements to be basically identical to OEM. Buy far more than you think you need. There are about 10X per door card, and they like to break upon removal:

More tips on re-installing the door cards:
- Sometimes the clips stick in the door frame and are left behind when you remove the door card. Definitely remove them from the door and pop them back into the door card prior to re-installing. It will be much easier as you can just push the door card straight in to pop the clips, instead of having to look the door card on the clips.
- Remove the top window/weather strip from the door card and pop it back into the door prior to putting the door card back on. It makes it FAR easier to install the door card. The video below shows how that is best done:
