Default Trunk Lid Swap Problem!!

Hello all. I just purchased a 2014 GS , and there was trunk damage. I bought a new flawless lid on ebay , upon arrival i noticed it was a non-auto trunk.

I had to switch the latch, the power button, and the cables to the latch. The only thing i kept, was the original harness from my car as i never disonnected it, only unbottoned it from the previous damaged trunk.

Now ,
The trunk will not auto open, or suck in and lock shut, and there are warning lights on my dash saying "trunk open" with annoying hazzard lights.

I searched this forum , as well as facebook and found nothing. Please help before i have to take it to a lexus tech!!

Thank you - Brandon . B

Since the car knows (via warning lights) that the trunk is not fully closed there must be some means (e.g. sensor, plunger, etc.) that is unable to signal the desired closed condition - and to open the trunk. Maybe the problem is a sensor or the configuration (i.e. shape) somewhere of the pre-2014 non-auto trunk lid you're attempting to use that does not allow correct operation.

I think adding electric trunk operation to a pre-2014 GS required that some modifications needed to be made to the trunk's interior. So, it wouldn't surprise me to learn the pre-2014 trunk lid has something different about it compared to a 2014 trunk lid. Maybe you can physically compare the original 2014 trunk lid with the pre-2014 trunk lid to see what difference is.

You don't need to take it to a Lexus tech - you might need help from a good body shop.

Ok i will double check to ensure i am not missing anything. Do you think there is a possibility that i may need to get the trunk lid reprogrammed? So that my computer can learn it ?

UPDATE: I checked over everything. I cannot find what i may be missing , unless there is a special sensor in the body of the trunk that is not registering with the computer of my car , then i dont know what else it is. Everything is working except the hindges opening automatically, and the button that automatically closes. Also, if it is a sensor , cant i just get the new trunk programmed to my car?

@Bigtexaslexus214 - THIS thread will likely help you. Read through the entire lengthy thread to pick up anything that may stand out as pertinent to your situation.

You'll see a lot of valuable information in the thread shared by @eddie420 and @peasodos . They both are topnotch, helpful contributors to the 4GS forum and they both love to modify/update their 4GS.

If you have a specific question @eddie420 will likely be able to answer it...especially if it pertains to the difference in the pre-2014 trunk lid (you're attempting to use) compared to the 2014 and after trunk lid with the power trunk feature.

I hope it helps!
