Default Installing Bluetooth Module in a CD Changer model (Not DVD Changer)

Hi All,

I bought this bluetooth module which uses the CD Stacker plug to connect. I've installed it using a Y splitter, following the instructions on this video:

All pretty easy, I was happy with how well it was going. Once it's installed, he hits the "DISC" button to get to his DVD stacker mode, then hits his "DISC" button again to get to the CD Stacker mode, which is now the bluetooth module. I am using a different module to in the video, but it connects via the same plug so I figured it'd be a good video to follow. (What installation instructions there are in the manual it came with line up with the video).

He has a car with a DVD Stacker, mine is a 2005 (MY06) GS430, so it only came with a CD Stacker, not a DVD Stacker. When I press "DISC" a second time, nothing changes. I know I have two sides of the Y harness hooked up correctly, since the CD Stacker is working. The bluetooth module is getting power, its LED blinks red rapidly for a few seconds, then goes to blinking red more slowly, so I think the third leg of the Y adapter is plugged in properly as well.

Did I just buy a unit that's not compatible with my car, or am I missing something here?

Other things I've tried:
  • Searching this forum for things like "Bluetooth no dvd" or "Bluetooth CD only" - I didn't find anything.
  • Unplugging the CD stacker from the Y cable - I got a "Check System" message on the console when it booted. I'd be open to a solution which involved bridging out the CD stacker somehow, as long as I know what I'm cutting / soldering, and it's known to work (and be reversible).
  • Searching for Jie Ri Bluetooth Module on google, there's not too much helpful there.
Thanks all.

J
