Thats too much for diagnostics, sorry but that mechanic A: hes not good at diagnostics B: He's trying to con you Either way I would have him drop that price. Really he couldnt figure out a broken connection at the steering rack? Thats why in my first post I mention to look for the steering rack connection before replacing the ecu to it.
