i have an 08 lexus gs 350 with 113mi, my question is should i use a full synthetic or synthetic blend ? and which engine oil brand that lexus recommend? also should i be considering using High milage since am at 113mi now ? my car doesnt leak or have any oil consumption by far, i'd like to hear recomendtions and suggestions ,, thanks
You do not need full synthetic, you can purchase any decent brand oil and it will be perfectly fine to run. Just make sure you use an oem oil filter, and avoid those cheap fakes on ebay. Replace the oil at 3-4,000 miles!
I would avoid high mileage oils, just use what is recommended on the oil cap.
I checked the previous owner history and it seems like he used to change the oil at the dealership with just conventional oil, probably for the past 13 years, so the first thing I did is I changed to mobil 1 full synthetic and I had it for less than a month then I heard about Amsoil oil signature series so I switch to it then I started smelling oil inside the cabin and start noticing a white smoke comes from the exhaust which I never seen it before so I switch to Castrol egde as someone referred it’s good for older engine and mobil1 good for modern engine, and I still have that white/bluish smoke never disappear so I’m thinking to switch back to conventional or synthetic blend? Do you think this might help out the smoke ? Or did I ruin my engine already !!!!?

amsoil oil ruin my engine already, I had it in my car for 3 weeks then I drained it out, it has a lot of added cleaning detergent so that cleans out all the valves and pistons rings and washed out the entire engine!!! after having it for couple days I started smelling burnt oil inside the cabin and white smoke comes out from the exhaust and it never disappear !!!!!!

So when you crank the engine right away it puffs white/blueish smoke that does not go away when the car gets warmed up? I dont think that would relate to the oil change. Its possible the car was overheated and warped a head gasket, have you checked coolant levels by popping off the engine cover and opening the radiator cap?
It could be that you purchased the vehicle with a blown headgasket, and the previous owner mixed in the oil a thickening oil or sealer to slow the leak down. So when you change out the oil, your removed the old engine oil sealer allowing it to leak. What you can do is they sell headgasket carbon detection kits. Or just take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it for 1 hour
may I ask you why not using high milage oil ? I heard they’ve a special additive to recondition the seals! Am I right ?

The issue with the GS (and many other toyota/lexus) is that the oil passages in the piston oil control rings are too small. When people dont change their oil on time the sludge, carbon etc builds up into those small passages. After time and high mileage a piston will lock the rings into place and not allow oil to pass.
High mileage oil is thicker oil! Its usually for cars with worn out piston rings, valve guides etc. Thats where that will benefit from! But in our case a thinner oil is better for us, you want that oil to flow through the piston skirts.
it happens only when the engine is warmed up, it last for like 4-5 second then it disappear, At the first I was thinking it’s condensation but to my knowledge it only happen the first thing in the morning but not when the engine is warmed up and up to the temperature, and the weird thing is the smoke does not come at all the time,, the coolant level is about right and the engine oil is at the max line no consumption, I took it to a mechanic he says it’s a “valve stem seals” tomorrow I’m taking it to AAMCO for a another diagnostic,,, the stealer-ship will be my last option, I heard high milage oil have a sealer conditioner that will if there’s any internal leak is that true ???

Could be valve stem seals if so yes a thicker oil helps. Conventional oil is better here as well because it simply doesn't flow as well, not good for the engine but makes you feel better from seeing less smoke. Replacing these seals is a major job, unless you do it yourself it will be very $$$$$.
I’m using Castrol egde full synthetic at the moment, I’ll take your advice and not switch to high milage, and I’ll see what the mechanic will tell me tomorrow. I just feel bad since I changed a lot of parts in the car with all OEM parts, spark plugs and ignition coil, spark plugs tube, both head cover gasket, plenum gasket, pcv valve, also one of my spark plugs in cylinder one was having oil from the top and the mechanic explains that the Gs having this issue exactly as you mention ! Thanks again for your help

I highly doubt its the oil valve stem seals, as if that were bad, it would get worst as the engine warms up. Could be a worn valve guide, when they heat up the tolerance expands. but Ive never heard of known of these issues going bad in these cars.
Did the problem start after you replaced the valve covers? Did replace the spark plug gaskets aswell? That is suppose to stop oil from reaching the sparkplugs. If a sparkplug is oily it can blow smoke out of the tailpipe. Because oil could build up, as the car is parked for a long period of time and slowly leaking oil through the spark threads and burning off that little amount appearing in the tail pipe.
Take a video of the smoke and post it!
If the problem is bad, I would suggest to take the car to a lexus specials, lexus dealer, and or toyota dealer pay for 1 hour of diagnostics. Explain to them the situation that it wasnt blowing smoke.
Instead of throwing a bunch of money at it hoping for a cure, a good diagnostics will ease your mind. I wouldnt recommend aamco there more of a general repair
I use Walmart super tech semi synthetic with a Toyota oem oil filter. My 350 uses about a quart every 1500 miles so it doesn’t make sense to put expensive oil in it.
