You need to get whatever is going to give you the leverage that you need. How where you trying to change it? Jack stands? Ramps?

You could have said no and not had the service completed. I hate when people say they got taken advantage of or “raped” when a service was performed for a task you could not accomplish. It doesn’t matter why, even if you simply didn’t have what you needed to complete the task. Their time is just as valuable as yours. They had the means also which cost money.

Next time you can’t get something that you are “diy” see if your neighbor can help if you don’t want to pay for a task to be completed.

Why don't you ask the mechanic who did the work for you what tool he used? You paid him $300 so the least he can do is tell/show you the tool he used.

I think I've seen videos where they use a 14mm wrench and another where they used a 14mm low profile socket. If you find out something interesting let us know.

If you rewatch the video at around 1:00 time he uses a 14mm open end wrench. He shows you exactly how he placed it on the fill plug, then he uses a large hammer to hit the wrench acting as an impact.

The important thing is you got the job done!
