Default Cruise control switch installation

Today the cruise control switch broke when I went to disengage it (pulling it back). No force was used, but it's 12 years old. The dealer wants $545 to replace it (parts and labor). Doing research, I found I can buy the part for $87 plus change and shipping. My question is, how difficult is it to disassemble the steering column to install the new switch.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Here's one for $16.

There are a bunch (new and used) on eBay for less than $50. Can't help you with the install instructions as I have not had to remome my steering wheel yet.

Update - an under $4.00 tube of Gorilla glue appears to have done the trick. Thanks for responding tghw.
