A GS 2nd gen lends itself to a vvti 2J much easier. It bolts right up and wiring is very friendly.

Here’s another way to go that will be turnkey

Did the SC300 come with the R154 or the W158? I suppose if you can source the clutch and 5speed manual from an SC300 and mate it to the 2JZ that would make sense as well as keep everything in the same family. I would prefer to wire the speedometer, as well as, keep all OEM functionality which is why I'm sure it will be a challenge as well as costly. The fact that not many guys are going this route leads me to believe it's an expensive swap.
typo is W58 not W158, and yes sc300 did come with it. R154 older supra and toy chasers

Actually I would recommend you run the cd009 with the cobb cutting adapter, you have to cut a section of the bell housing. But the beauty of running nissan trans is that you run 350z clutch and pressure plate. Thats cheaper than the w58/r154 clutches! So if you grenade the clutch or transmission both are easily accessible.

If you plan to do the swap and plan to hard wire the gauges I would consider wiring it to an aftermarket stand a lone ecu. The JZ ecu's are garbage, aswell as with the turbos.

To get the engine and transmission mounted in the GS is super easy. Doing the gauges to fully work thats the tricky part, if you do stand alone you can run an electronic dash that will plug into the ecu.

If that ECU is hackable, then you should be good to go!
I just threw in a charger from a Tundra + APexi Neo + Cusom Harness in there on my 460 and almost blew my engine!

But at least I got to whip an E39 M5 on the night!

Not impressed!

I've watched your video whipping that E39 on youtube Designo. It was impressive to watch and it gave me hope to mod my 460. Then I read the part that you almost blew your engine and how unstable it was. If that dyno shop did in fact cracked the ECU that would be promising.

I hope so. I gave up hope on that this August when I got rid of my 460 due to my frustrations. If that is true and there are substantial gains to be made from stock I might consider tracking down another.

Thats almost 400hp at the wheels with a bolt on kit. Torque is a little low but for these it will be reliable. I might try it on my 07 next year if I don't boost my 6.2L GMC

Your car? Mine's next

I'm shooting for a GS-F next year.... maybe a year after... depending on how things go financially for me.

6.2 turbo parts are dirt cheap for it
