Default Transmission screwed p2757

I have driven this car for 2 days and noticed a pretty bad vibration in the passenger wheel area when pressing on the throttle. I quickly realized it does it only when the car is fully warm. Basically what happens is the car fails to downshift unless I put my foot heavy into it then it downshifts and the shaking stops.

I will stick to manual mode as that solves the shaking issue but I think I'll need to replace a solenoid

Just drove it again this time I got to replicate the shaking even in manual shift mode. It seems to happen when I'm right around 2k rpm and trying to accelerate. As soon as I downshift to 5th rpms go to 2500 and it stops shaking and car has good power. Is this a slipping converter?

I will try to replicate it tomorrow when car is cold to make sure it's related to tranny temperature.

Also it only seems to happen at higher speeds it never happened at like 40km

That is torque converter shutter caused by breakdown of the friction modifiers in the fluid. Assuming damage isn't done...
Probably a good idea for a pan drop and fluid change.
These cars use the exact same transmission in the tundra. The only difference is the Tundra has an extra trans cooler.

I'm a Lexus tech, and I've managed to save a few LS460 transmissions with the same problem by flushing the fluid, and making sure that the fluid level is to spec.

Have you ever seen a CVT from a GS450H fail yet?

I have almost 213k on my car original trans fluid.

So you mean one of those Suck out the Old and refill changes Vs. Dropping the pan?

realized the problem is that it doesn't downshift or downshifts with a huge delay when hot. Coasting and then pressing on the gas should immediately raise the rpms or downshift if you press it hard enough but it gets stuck sometimes in 5th or 6th so I gotta manually downshift it to keep moving.

Other than this tranny feels alright I hope changing the solenoid will fix the downshift problem

Many 2006 300's with transmission problem have had success with rebuilding the transmission ecu. I believe its under $200 for the service

Just 2006? How is 2007 different?
What service? The ecu can develop cracks in solder joints yes, but if I have a code for the tranny I should probably do that first

From what I have seen only 2006's have the bad transmission modules. 2007-up do not! I am not sure what actually gets faulty, but several guys on here have sent them to out for repair with good results.

Read post #31

He used http://siaelec.com/ to repair the ECU, what went faulty was the transmission module inside.

Ok thanks for the heads up so you're saying I should try a different computer first. Are the engine and transmission ecu housed in a single unit

Youre welcome! I am saying send out your ECU for testing and repair if need be. Those guys claim the transmission module is in the ECU, try calling the electronic repair shop to confirm.

update on my tranny. After driving it for couple of months I can see exactly what's happening with it.

1-The shudder is gone. Most likely was the TCC slipping due to bad fluid. Now it holds. It won't accelerate but it holds.
2-Lock up enables on random in any gear, greatly hindering acceleration.
3-Car gets stuck in gear, doesn't downshift.
4-When applying brakes, transmission works against brakes, tries to push me forward. This makes for some confidence un-inspiring, hooptie like braking.
5-It seems to happen less the more I use different gears, stop, and go, etc. But after driving on the highway and the car being in 5th/6th gear with TCC engaged, the solenoid likes to get stuck if you don't constantly use it.

Numbers 2,3,4 all kick in at the same time.

Still driveable, I use it every day. Get to the highway(car drives nice), drive on highway(6th speed cruising), then get off the hwy and limp my way to the destination in manual mode haha. the key is to not burn the tcc by giving it more gas but just give it a little throttle so it speeds up
