350 Stereo problems
I followed a thread I found here regarding stereo issues some folks have been having, so I thought I'd ask as there about a million topics/pages to search through.
My grandfather has an 07 GS 350 and a while ago he had to get a jump start and while I don't know if the guy used a car, 747 or something with a 24 volt charging circuit, the sob managed to fry the booger well and good. First off he blew the main computer to smithereens and put the stereo into a catatonic state. Lexus of Roseburg Ca repaired the computer and told him that the amp was fried and that's why the stereo didn't work anymore. So...I drove two hours one way to get a factory amp and installed it in the parking lot (400.00 core charge) upon completion there was still no sound to be heard. The touch screen that controls the balance/fade comes up and shows that the speakers are all faded out to the lower right and won't move. Same goes for bass and treble controls. The screen lights up when you touch the control you desire but the 'pip' doesn't move.
I saw a video somewhere where a Lexus had a similar issue (right down to the touch screen) In the video he talked about how there was a beefy fuse under the dash (30 amp or better) and while it showed good on top, the bottom part was fried and that's why none of the controls are responding. I tried to check it out, but that fuse isn't there and I don't see one like it nearby.
So now I'm here with my hat in my hands looking for help. Thanks for looking, guys.
