Sounds like a pretty good job! As for the chip, that's really up to you. I'd live with it but if they offer to repaint the entire door for free and you trust their job's quality, sure why not? Can you live without your car for a few more days?

I told them it was fine. The service person was not happy about the chip, but crap happens and let's face it -- my car is 13 years old and has 162k miles. It's been a highway warrior for the past 6 years. It has plenty of other chips and nicks. Just need to be realistic about it. My main concern was addressing the rust and that has been taken care of. Hopefully it won't come back.

I wonder how many of us 3GS owners have this exact same issue and don't know about it because it's festering behind the mirror.

Just curious, has anyone who found rust under the drivers mirror taken apart the other door to see if there's any rust behind the passenger mirror?
