Which Lexus Gs Should I purchase?
Hello all,
I currently own a Lexus ES and am planning on selling it and getting myself an upgrade with a GS. I have three options in my vicinity right now and am wondering which option would you choose and why?
1st option: 2007 Lexus Gs450h, 72000 miles, 1 owner. $12,500
-Pros: drove nice on test drive, decent mpg for the horsepower it outputs. Cons: Hybrid battery costs a ton if it were to go out, RWD will suck in Minnesota Winters.
2nd option: 2008 Lexus Gs 350 AWD, 119000 miles, 2 owners. $10,300???
-Pros: AWD will be nice in winters, tires have solid tread left, could potentially get it for really cheap. Cons: Has a hole in the Y pipe and VSC light as well as check engine light is on with P0430 code. I have a mechanic friend who will only charge me for parts so I could get it for potentially as is at 6-7k and fix it up. I just want to know if that would be worth it or the issues are glaringly troubling.
3rd option: 2011 Lexus Gs 350 AWD, 87000 miles, 2 owners. $13,500.
-Pros: Newer vehicle than all of the others, grandma car, nothing wrong with it. Cons: If I want to use the nav this year I'll have to go to stupid Lexus to do it and that's expensive, also insurance and tabs will cost more than the other two models as well. Needs tires ASAP as well.
Thank you

Option 3, for sure. You might pay a bit more up front, and for new tires, tags, etc.; but it will be worth it in the long run. That way, you won't have to worry about RWD sketchiness in the winter, vague check engine lights, etc.
Good luck in your hunt!

Option 3 would be my choice.
Btw, if you experience the VSC and Check Engine lights try replacing the fuel cap first and drive the car for two days. I replaced my faulty fuel cap (which are common on some model years) and the check engine and VSC lights went away in 36 hours.

Option2, because you can get it for cheap and repair the vehicle easily, also it doesnt mean the 2011 is not going to have the same problem down the road. Even if you can get it for 7-8K its a good deal.
I just realized this post is pretty old, i wonder if he even bought a car.
