This is awesome and something I'd consider.

How would temperature affect functionality? Living in Texas, when it's 100F outside, the car can easily reach temps of 150+ in the parking lot.

Keep us posted on the rear camera option as that is kind of a major thing for me at this point.

Seems like it takes too long to boot up for my tastes:

Do you need factory navigation for this to work? Or is the nav completely independent of any factory nav components

Any aftermarket unit with nav will be independent of any factory nav and thus completely self contained in the new unit (minus antenna possibly).

Those fingerprints will be a nightmare. Factory screens have a specific anti-glare/fingerprint resistant layer on them. Without that, this looks and acts just like an iPad screen with attracting prints and glare.

I'm just imagining it reacting like an iPhone where it just shuts down in anything above 90 F and you have to cool it off for it to work. Maybe not though. Regardless, I'm going to bet the company doesn't have a whole lot of bench mark testing in that area.

Ordered the unit 2 days ago for a little less than the asking price using a coupon code from their Facebook page. Having unlimited data on my phone and no nav or backup camera in my 2006 GS, it was hard to make a reason against it as adding a backup camera alone was going to cost me $300. Unfortunately I haven’t heard back from them since I ordered, so hopefully I’m not being had for $650.

Agreed. Depending on how the reverse camera works with this unit (hopefully it is designed to cut away to the camera no matter where the tablet is in its boot up sequence) you could be waiting 30 seconds before having a working rear view. As far as I can tell Lexus' factory system is very quick or it allows the camera to take over while the rest of the system boots when started up.

If you've ordered with your CC you can always do a chargeback.

I did PayPal which I think may provide similar recourse?

Yeah i think they have their own process. Either way you're protected if they never ship!

Hopefully it doesn’t come to that as this would fix the only issue I have with the car

If you guys ordered from Phoenix android radio. I can vouch for them as i have received my product. Please give them sometime, it took about 3-4 weeks to get mine.

The backup camera will automatically switch on once its in reversed. Sorry i cant answer all questions right now. Been so busy with work and family.

Please give updates as they become available. I’m very interested in this upgrade for my GS but I’m on the fence. Considering purchasing a new Audi this year but plan on keeping my Lexus as a daily driver. I want to have some fun with the upgrades and this system would be perfect if it’s proven reliable and most importantly, functional.

Yeah, I saw the same boot up times in other videos. It’s a pretty long time to wait especially if you need those HVAC controls during extreme temperatures.

Will do, I intend on buying a car a new car in a year and a half as I tend to keep cars for 4 years, but I figured that this was a noteworthy upgrade for the time being. In terms of the time to boot up, apparently there is a setting you can change to lessen the time, or at least change the screen quicker that I saw someone do on their unit in a Honda Civic.

As aristo said, the add says 4.4, but others who have purchased units have said it is running 6. I am not a tech person whatsoever, so I have no idea the difference between one or the other, but figured I’d just back up OPs claims.

Lmao...some of you guys are so inpatient. The boot time isn't that long. I say for the 3rd gen gs the boot time 25-30.
