Default Should I replace both tires or just 1...

I have 20" Michelin Pilot Sport4 S 245/35Z on the front of a '11 GS350AWD with 5500 miles on them and just had a tire puncture, which Butler says can't be fixed. Now, I went ahead and bought a new tire but I'm curious should the other front tire be replaced as well? Not sure if enough tire tread has been worn to make a difference from the other side or not. The back tires are staggered, so don't have to worry about these. Any advice, let me know.

I believe the general rule of thumb for an AWD car is that if the tires are all within 3/32nd of an inch, then you're fine to replace just the one. 5,500 miles isn't much, however, our cars are known for eating tires at a faster rate than most, so maybe measure the tread depth, then see if they're that close to what a new tire would be. If you're still iffy, you could just replace the pair (front 2 or back 2). My fiancee has the same issue with her Cayenne, so we just did the rear pair, and it's been fine. Might want to see what others have to say before taking my advice though.

You should be fine! If there was a serious issue you would have received an error on the dash.

IIRC Lexus actually doesnt have any guidance on tire differences at least for RWD. I'd say as long as you're not running bald vs. new then you should be fine. 5k miles is nothing on a tire and I was running a used and new Yokohama Envigor for a while until I replaced all 4 (still rotated them every 5k).
