2007 Lexus GS350 EVAP Codes - Failed Smog Check
Hello,
My 2007 Lexus GS350 just failed a smog check with codes:
P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0455: Evap System Large Leak Detected
My check VSC engine light is on and I have already replaced my fuel cap with no luck.
AutoZone suggested that I might need to replace the EGR Vacuum Solenoid.
Any suggestions?

First off, never listen to what they say. There is no EGR on that car. Did you replace your gas cap with a Lexus one or aftermarket? Has any work been done to the car recently?

Check the rubber hoses from the purge valve, look for the green cap and trace those hose back down the right wheel well they will go into a hard metal line. cracks may be hard to see without a smoke machine. Also if you find no external leaks your purge valve solenoid could be sticking open (not fully closing) also

If you are short on time, you can erase the code. Make sure your car is below a 1/4 or above 3/4 tank. Drive the car around so that the other emission readiness monitors complete (CAT, O2, Heated O2). For most cars, EVAP monitor check is done usually during cold start and gas level is between 1/4 - 3/4 tank. You will pass the functional portion of the smog test with EVAP monitor incomplete, but the rest of the other HAVE to be completed to pass.
most car ODB scanners, should have a IM/READINESS check function besides being able to read codes.
You should get it taken care of soon. With a large leak, your gas vapors are going into our atmosphere...

So my Purge Valve Solenoid was sticking open and once I replaced that it took care of code P0455 but I still got code P0441 showing up.
I took SILENTM's advice and followed the hose that runs from the purge valve to the hard metal pipe and it was barely on there!! I properly put it back on with a clap and reset the codes.
Hopefully, after driving a day it won't come back on, I will give an update in a few days...
