Default 3gs high output alternator?

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations with a high output alt on the 3gs?

Searching got me nowhere, but i swear i read somewhere that someone was having issues with one.

...I have a decent audio setup in my car, but looking to upgrade, and a little worried about the repercussions

I had one, it's back in the box waiting for reinstallation.

My belt was too loose (you need 1in shorter serpentine belt).

I just haven't gotten aroudn to reinstalling it. Once wound up it keeps a stable 13.8v-14.0v (14v cold).

If you want variable voltage like 14.0+ on warm run, you need a mod box, which is still experimental according to the person i spoke to (not mechman).

Mine's is for a GS430.

After some time trying to fix this gremlin, as you posted, I purchased the singer alternator voltage mod, and I havent had an issue with the battery light since.

So even with just a 200 amp alternator upgrade you would run into issues with lights coming on you think or would I be OK

i cant say for certain but i suspect its a compatibility issue rather than an amperage issue

i would try it out, and if the light comes on, i would purchase the voltage mod. I remember it being pretty cheap
