Default Premature hybrid battery failure

My 2007 GS450h with 63,000 miles hybrid battery is failing. I bought the car at an auction for a sweet price 3 years ago never expecting to have to deal with a high price repair replacing the hybrid battery. At 7 years old this car had only 42k miles on it because the previous owner was a snowbird and the car sat in the garage 6 months out of the year. Everything I have read says these batteries last minimum of 100k miles and usually much longer.

I need an economical way to replace this battery. Reconditioned? Rebuilt? New would not be economical and going to Plexus dealer would not be economical either.

Any suggestions?

The Hybrid battery doesn't do good sitting not being operated for months at a time. Main reason being, as my understanding is that the system will periodically run numerous checks and when the car isn't run for 2+ ,months at a time, a premature failure of the battery can become prevalent. I would start researching battery replacement, taking careful consideration to NOT get one out a car that's been wrecked, as I have seen personally MANY toyota hybrid cars that have been wrecked and they have battery issues down the line. Even in a car that's not been "totalled" There are some places that market refurbed batteries, check their reputation, here's an example:

Keep in mind, this isn't an endorsement, just a starting point on what to look for. The replacement Hybrid battery industry is getting bigger as the need for this sort of thing grows.

Standard Hybrid system warrantee was for 8 years/ 100K miles whichever comes first.
You seem to have gotten 10 years out of it. Still sucks however...

Pull out the battery pack unbolt the whole unit, test each battery cell voltage. Replace the bad cells and put it all back together.

You can buy the batter cells cheaply on ebay, and I believe they are the same as the prius cells.

There are videos out on youtube that show how to test each cell and how to handle the battery with car so you dont get zapped and die on us
