GS 350 Weird Tranny Behavior During Hard Braking (With Video)
The behavior is such that under hard braking, the transmission struggles to get into 1st gear from any speed to 0 MPH. Only happens under hard braking. Basically it feels like the tranny is slow in getting back to first. If im driving at 40 and brake hard to 0, once i stop, the tranny feels like its still getting into 1st for the next 2 seconds and then it hurches confirming it has reached 1st gear.
The second behavior is that when im driving at 70 MPH or anny speed, and i brake hard to reduce speed 10-15 mph, the rpms will go from its normal 70MPH Rpm ~2000 RPM and drop to idle speed around 500RPM while the car is still at 60 mph.
The video shows the 2nd scenario. I took the video in landscape and well, you will have to turn head to 90 degrees LOL sorry.

SKIP to 10 seconds if your in a rush

This all seems normal to me. If you are doing sudden hard braking the transmission is helping you by the delayed downshift.
If you are doing a 10-15mph slowdown from 70mph you are probably in 6th gear dropping to 5th which would cause the rpms to go up a little.
My 2007 Gs350 does this. I've owned the older style GS430 and it downshifted less, probably due to the software and less gears (5 gears vs 6). I've heard that the GS460 with the 8 speed auto transmission "hunts" around more to be in the right gear so the rpms are probably all over the place.

But the hard braking and slow tranny engagement has been fixed. The tranny was low on fluid by 1.5-2 quarts. I hope nothing is damaged. Does the car not indicate a warning that shows low fluid?

Unfortunately not, and since it doesn't have a dipstick to measure the fluid itself it becomes more a game of proactive maintenance. Have your shifts gotten better/smoother?

Yes the shifts are now as designed. I understand they don't have dip sticks as I'm coming from audi which is the same way. But the audi threw a MIL for low fluid. The vehicle was low 1.5-2 2 quarts and no sign! That's just worrying.

Weird hard shifting
I just went to the dealership to have my rear differential serviced and wanted the transmission serviced as well because I’ve been having delayed down shifting, hard shifts when it shifts to a lower gear when going up a hill and maintaining the same speed, and very hesitant shifting in general. I have owened my car for the last five years so its used to my driving style. The Lexus dealership in Austin recommended I don’t change the transmission fluid because it’s world transmission fluid and could possibly hurt my transmission. I didn’t have them service my transmission but now I’m stuck with these weird shifting issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Change oil make sure levels right.
They just don't wanna do it.
I changed all of mine at 220k miles and pretty much brought it back to life.
There's nothing wrong with draining fluid just don't flush it let the deposits stay where they are the. You can only clean the pan and the magnets on it
