Hey guys brand new to the forum. I just acquired a Black 2010 Lexus GS 350. The car came with 20 x 8.5 inch Foose Speed Chrome wheels with 245/35/20 tires in the front and 255/35/20 tires in the rear. I absolutely love the setup but the front wheels are rubbing slightly on the rear part of the inner fenders when at full turn.
I was thinking of removing the plastic part but that part protects the engine from debris. Don't know if I should do that or if it would even fix the problem. Now I'm thinking about adding 15mm spacers to the front wheels (25mm to the back). I think if I can widen the front wheels out a bit there will be less area to rub.
Is it possible to remedy the problem that way? If not is there another way with out removing the tires (they brand new)?
You should post your offset so the wheel guru's can tell you. Is your wheel flush with the fender line? Some pics might help.... And from my perspective, it seems like you are on the right track with spacers so far.... It would give you more space to turn the wheel, but up to a certain calculation of course.
if your in NY you probably have AWD so i would try to keep the tires as close as possible, not to mention 245/35 is too big for the front hence why your rubbing on full turns. you can heat the wheel liner up and remold it but i wouldnt remove them. i removed mine when i had my 22's (yea we all do dumb things) and during rain, i ended up getting water in my headlight.
Try the heating and remolding the well, if that doesnt do it and your rubbing is more serious.
What I did was I took off the fender liner, used an angle grinder and grinded down the metal tab, prime and paint the exposed metal. Then when I put the liner back in, I added 2-3 long self tap screws with tiny washers on them. This helped me stop all my rubbing
Thanks for the advice fellas. Like I mentioned before I absolutely love the the setup up and the rubbing is only by about a quarter inch. Put it this way the old tires were 245/35/20's but with almost no tread left and there was no rubbing that's how small the rubbing is.
I believe the offset is 32mm (20 x 8.5 wheels) but I have to double check that.
Also the vehicle was purchased in San Diego and I believe is just RWD (not sure just got it the other day). I really would like to go with spacers but heard some horror stories about them. I think pushing the back tires out 25mm and the front 15mm cosmetically will look perfect (give it wider aggressive stance) and I'm hoping it opens up my turning enough to fix the rub.
Any suggestions on where to buy reliable spacers that fit?
I'll post some pics as soon as I can. Thanks again fellas.
