Default Replacing rear trunk button?

Anyone ever replace the trunk button on the trunk lid? Its the one with the rubber button. I've searched but haven't found anyone with a DIY? I know the trunk lid lining has the be removed but not sure how to remove that either. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I have not, but from the pictures here it looks like you have to take two screws out, and yes remove the liner, than just swap that plug.

Have you tested the switch to make sure that it is the cause of your problem? If not you can buy a volt meter and test the connections before you go replacing parts.

Default Not just two screws....

I just got my 2008 GS 350 3 weeks ago, first thing I did was replace trunk switch. I replaced this switch due to the condition of the rubber cover on the switch. It turns out that you cannot buy the rubber cover itself, you must replace entire switch assembly. Do yourself a favor order the switch of ebay, do not pay the stealership!

Replacing the switch assembly involves removing more than the inner liner, you practically disassemble the trunk lid. I did not have time to make a DIY, and I will not be doing it over any time soon. Suffices to say that you must remove the inner liner the trunk portion of the rear lights, the trunk lid finisher, and the tag light/trunk switch assembly.

Note: As for the two screws aforementioned, for some reason they were very difficult to remove. Be sure and use a number one phillips on them.
