06 GS300 oil consumption

Hello all. My 06 lexus gs 300 has about 155000 miles on it and still running strong. Its been very reliable but my concern is has anyone ever had their GS use a lot of oil? It seems like my GS is using a lot of oil. I checked under the hood and car and there are no leaks at all. Is anyone else having this problem? Also i use 5w 30 penzoil and i change my oil every 3000 miles. Yeah im old school lol. Also are brakes easy to change on this car? Thanks:-)

Take it to the dealer it sounds like you have carbon buildup. They will rebuild your engine for free, no matter the mileage. This is common on most 06 GS300's

The leak is coming from the piston rings seized by the carbon to the pistons.

Nothing wrong with being old school. It actually helps prolong preventative measures from the car having oil leaks in the future, as the impurities from the oil does leave buildup, thus sealing up any leaks (although it isn't recommended as performance is hindered, car loses a few mpgs, and once seals go bad, all hell breaks loose lol).

I know of people who've done 300k+ miles off conventional oil on these old ford v6s they have. They also beat the hell out of it to boot.

Are you sure the dealer will fix this issue for free? I havent heard any recalls on this before.

Yes. This is a common issue with 2006 GS300s

Probably not the same with an 03 gs300? Have one (forsale) with 180k and it seems low on oil on occasions...

Yes for free, doesnt matter mileage shape if its an 06 GS300 or an IS250 it will get a free engine rebuild. You just have to go to the dealership and explain to them what is going on and theyll take care of it. You may have to pay for 1 hour labour for diagnosis, but if its true and you are losing oil they waive that.

This is a good time to have them replace the water pump, and plugs while your at it, labour should be free.

My 07GS350 burns 1/2 QT of oil every 2500 miles since valve spring recall job.

Awesome news!

InvisibleM 08-10-13 03:37 PM

is there a code being thrown with this or do you just tell them its eating oil and they hook you up? cuz i brought in my car to the dealer a while back and told them that the car was stuttering every once in a while while at a stop light and they said they couldnt do anything until it threw a code

LexusFan09 08-10-13 04:09 PM

Tell that your car is losing oil very quickly after your oil change. Tell them you want to diagnose the car.

I have the same problem with almost same miles 155000. Received a recall stating if code comes take my car to dealer. Did that but dealer said that it did not meet recall standards. Told them about oil usage and that I saw no signs of leakage. They say repaired my 2006 GS 300 and charged me $4180, but the car used 2 quarts of oil driving home about 152 miles. Took the car back to dealer 3 times and on third visit. The dealer asked for another $2000 just to find out what was wrong. So I call my credit card company to try to get my money back. Can someone help. Now dealer say they will take me small claims court.
