FINALLY....CSP on GS300 engine misfire
2006 GS300 Customer Support Program for Engine Misfire.
Just got a letter from Lexus on the rough idle I have been complaining about since day one. Always felt like the car was going to shut off on me. Time to call the dealership.

Dear GS 300 Owner:

Lexus cares about our customers under certain driving conditions 2006 model year GS 300 and 2006 to certain 2010 model year IS 250 and IS 250C vehicles may exhibit an intermittent rough idle and/or illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine
Lamp). The driver may notice this during the following conditions .
• Intermittently runs rough after coming to a stop with the engine at operating temperature .
• Intermittently runs rough with engine misfires present after a cold soak startup.
If this condition occurs one or more of the Diagnostic Trouble Codes' (DTC's) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304,
P0305, and/or P0306 may be recorded.
'The check engine light may illuminate for reasons unrelated to this condition.
Although the engine is covered by the Lexus Powertrain Warranty for 6 Years or 70,000 miles (whichever comes first),
we at Lexus care about your overall ownership experience. To assure you that we stand behind our product, we are
offering this CSP for this specific condition.

The run around begins
Called the dealership to set up the appt for the Customer Support program letter I got in the mail. I was told there IS NOT a program on my car and I must have gotten the letter in error. Nevermind it has my VIN # on the letter. She said she check for the program on both my cars (06 GS300 and 07 GS350) and there was none. After going back and forth (this is a complaint I have had for some time, which she saw in my records). She placed me on hold to talk to a service provider, then she told me it was just an appt to come in run a diagnosis on the car???? and the fee would be waived.
I decided to give up talking to her and will talk to the service provider tomorrow when I drop my car off. I am also getting a engine oil low message after having the oil changed only 3000 miles ago (another on going complaint)

Poor communication between Lexus headquarters and their dealerships. Bring letter to dealership. Sounds like the dealership is playing games. Report it to Lexus corporate.

I usually have the misfire when I come off the highway and stop at a light. The engine stutters and feels like it will shut off, after a few seconds, it goes away. Until the next time..... This also happens when I an just sittng in the car, in park.
I checked the www.lexus.com/owners website, but could not find specific vin info. sorry.

Thanks for posting the letter. It looks more like Lexus is extending the engine warranty for another 3 years [unlimited mileage] on top of the 6 year power train warranty to cover this rough idle issue.
I personally haven't experienced this issue, but it's good to know Lexus will step up and fix it for another couple years.
