Something to think about: How much do you think Mobil PAYS Chevy to be the official oil for the Corvette?

I have no doubt that the equivalent Quaker State, Pennzoil, etc oil will work just as well in a Z06 or ZR1

I agree - probably the same with Castrol and BMW.

Probably stems from the sponsorship tie-in with BMW Motorsports Division - WTCC/DTM and F1 - which I believe is likely to be a replica of Ferrari's and Shell's (and Agip in the distant past?) F1 sponsorship deal.

Paid $60 for the Lexus dealer to put in a Synthetic blend of Penzoil 5w-30. Should I go full Synthetic next time?

Mobile1 5W-30 and change the oil filter after 7500 miles and then oil/filter at 15k miles. I've sent in the oil to Blackstone labs in the past and it's come back perfectly fine even after 15k miles. The report said it still had a couple thousand miles left on it.

Yep, put it in my Avalanche because I couldn't get any Amsoil for awhile. Eventually found a local Amsoil dealer and have used it ever since. Never noticed any difference either way with the GM 5.3.

Just curious if anyone has used the Toyota 0W20 in their GS460?

I am on the same page with you, try using Redline gas additive. I buy a case on Amazon and add a bottle every 5k. Appreciate your thoughts. kenv

It is usable, but it's a very thin oil. the GS430 burns off a bit of oil in banks 6 and 8 towards the firewall. They say this is normal at Lexus when I went there, even printed out paperwork claiming it was normal, so I went with it. with 5w-20 already I don't burn that much, but I still burned about 1/4th of a bottle of redline oil at 7500 miles (still working towards my 10k right now, i'm at 8ish).

Wow kenv, will def check it out! I should check amazon to see if oil is cheaper there.... I'm due in another ~2k miles, and with the school commute (100m daily) I should expect the oil change to kick up real soon.

I'm using full synthetic on my vehicle. The thing is though, if you go full synthetic, it's okay to go semi-synthetic, but not the other way around. The impurities of the semi-synthetic help to aid in sealing up leaks over time.... So if you go full synthetic, after a while you'll fully notice that your car will leak tons of oil due to the purity of full synthetic typically taking off all the buildup in your seals. I've had neighbors with the same experience, have had this happen on a few cars also (not mine, but I changed people's oils according to THEIR preference of going from conventional oil to full synthetic).
