Question Anodizing or ceramic powder coat for intake?

Hey guys,

We've been working our tails off to get this development off the ground and need some advice from the members on this. On this new hood sealed intake system, should we do anodizing or ceramic powder coating?

I'm of the opinion that ceramic powder coating would be best for heat blocking but it will also increase price, whereas anodizing is relatively cheap and easy, could be done in house, and you can get some awesome custom colors dyed into the aluminum.

Currently the prototype only has a layer of heat resistent paint, which does little to nothing for staving off heat soak. It still produces great power, but I like things to be the best they can. I've seen some nice real world results with the ceramic powder coat but then again it could be a lot of work for little improvement.

What do you guys think? For reference, check out the vendor marketplace forum here.

If you can keep the cost under 3 bills, then I say ceramic. It will really depend on the price difference. Looks like some nice work so far.

I'd agree with you, I'd like to have it powdered too. The costs associated with doing it in house are a little prohibitive for a startup, but it would certainly be the most durable and beneficial to combating heat soak.

I've got the warehouse space, I just need a GIGANTIC oven....

still looking for input from the GS crowd!

On a sidenote, we are also looking for a GS350 and GS450H owner who'd like to have a dyno test done on their ride for free.

I'd especially like to see what a GS450H could do. Let me know if you are local or somewhat close to Baton Rouge, LA. We can make it worth your while for some good data and vid/pics.

Aw man, wish you were located in California! I'd be willing to help but good luck with all the tests. Looking forward to see the results ceramic or anodized!
