I think you took it through a wrong interpretation silly bananas hahaha... He said its also a parents responsibility to teach their kids if they cherish them that much in other words.... Sort of like "better safe than sorry". In which i agree. In my neughborhood you have no idea how many times i almost ran over kids and didnt luckily because they were playing bball and didnt look.
Its being SAFE. You wouldnt park your car next to someone almost taking up ur lane with dents dings and scratches all over the car would you? Same concept, different application.
Doing 100+ in a 40mph is not cool. It means you never been to prison. Loss of control at that speed means you will smash into something, and when you do, you will kill someone, and when that happens you got to jail for a while.
Agree with you. Very stupid to do over the speed limit on neighborhood road. But you also need to teach your kids not to go on the road. If the ball roll out there, leave it. Most cars drive on the road and they don't always have visibility.
Just like any responsible parents, I do teach my kids about safety; whether about talking to strangers, fire escape routes and of all things, not to run onto the street. Kids do listen well, it's some adults that I find it's hard to get across. All it takes is an obstacle or a cat, you swerve and no "sorry" can undo what's about to happen.

All I can say is that if you already on that "responsible" line of thinking, then shouldn't we all do our part to respect the safety of others?
IMO, your moment of impulse is disrespectful to the neigborhood and can end up causing someone's life. I say this because I have 2 kids who like to play in the front yard and a reason why I chose to buy a house in a low speed zone. There are just so many ways that things can go wrong at that speed in a residential street. If you want to satisfy your implulse, then take it to the track or an empty highway.
No other cars on the road and the road was quite straight. The only reason I did it was because the car gave me that confidence. I drove a 335i BMW on that same road never went past 100mph and the same with an infiniti g37. When i bought my GS350 AWD it simply gave me confidence to achieve that speed.
A couple weeks ago. L.A. to Vegas (and back). Was waiting for my chance. Once I saw a CHP cruiser had a camper pulled over, I went for it - 128MPH before I freaked. The car easily had more to give. Also saw a prototype of what I think was the new Cadillac XTS. Couldn't make out the grill but the taillights and rear quarter gave it away.
as many of you have seen, the US-Especially New York has bull**** speed limits. This are is straight, nowhere for cops to hide, no other cars were near. My visibility has high. The car simply gave confidence and I thought why now.
Regardless, it was a silly move and that's just their opinion, including mine's. Everyone should stop being soo butt-hurt, there's people out there that's done worse.
Yes, this is real, and at highway speed. Matter of fact, everyone in orlando that likes cars knows about this event and we all know the guy who did it personally. Everyone does something stupid at one time or another in their life. It's done and over with so let's move on, sit back and have a few brewskies
Sport mode doesn't do much TBH, just keeps your RPM's high in the sky so that when you stomp on it again, it doesn't have to re-downshift.
I honestly think sports mode does enough. The suspension is tightened, the throttle response is much better then in normal mode. High RPM's get you to feel the car a lot more. At around 4000 RPM is when I fall in love with my GS
yes, but when you're just straight out acceelrating, it doesn't do anything, of course when you're letting off and stepping it'll keep that RPM's in check that's where sport mode is really useful.
I guess because i don't mess aroud with the car much that I find the sport mode (on the engine's end) not useful.
As for the sport mode for the suspension, last i checked a looooong time ago (about 1-2 years when this discussion came up), sport mode for the car only made the car's struts stiffen up and it was just that, roll was the same and etc, which rendered that function pretty useless. I DO agree with you though fation, I feel more confident when having the sport mode on the suspension flipped to the on position =]
