Default Roof Rack or Trunk Rack

Does anyone transport bikes on their 3GS? I'm trying to decide on a roof or trunk rack. I'm looking for something that won't jack up the paint on the car. Any suggestions.. Thanks

Best would be a hitch.

I find it hard to lift the bike up the roof rack, and the trunk rack is kinda flimsy.

A hitch is a better bet on protecting the paint as it sets the bikes away from the car (if you can find a hitch setup that you can live with in terms of looks). But beware that a standard hitch rack will work fine on flat to minor inclines but doesnt hold the bikes high enough to keep them from scraping if you go up a short severe incline like you might encounter on some parking lots or side streets. Not a common problem but you have to watch for that. I bent a bike rim using a hitch on another car. And if you do a search, i recall a thread in the past about specific trunk racks for GS.

"short severe incline" ??? How severe?

http://www.priusonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4861 It looks very clear off the ground to me. I kinda like that rack really.

Installing a trailer hitch and a rear bicycle rack might be easier but that doesn't help with snowboards.

If you frequently have to transport large things like bicycles and snowboards this is the wrong car to do it with.

Default Yakima Roof Rack/Cargo Box

A cure for the anemic trunk in my GS450H - I just ordered a Yakima roof rack and the Rocketbox 15 from Amazon. The Q-Towers are on backorder, so I should have them within a month... Will post some picks once I get it.

Anyone else have a Yakima roof rack?
