Default trunk on 2007 gs350 harder to lift?

hey guys,
is the trunk on the 07s meant to be hard to lift up after releasing the trunk?
i know it has the power close feature which is cool but is that why its much harder to lift up than the 2gs? i figured it would have power open as well.

btw, i scanned through the faq and didnt see anything about this. thx

i don't find my '08 trunk any harder to lift than normally. do you find that your trunk is harder to lift now than when you first got it? or the same?

Well you have to keep in mind, there is shocks attached to the trunk so it gives some resistance compared to a trunk that has a spring or nothing at all.

Yes it is heavier but not like an anvil, I understand what your saying cause I remember my older GS 430 was lighter to lift I think it is the shocks that cause it to feel heavier.

it is harder to lift than my old 01 gs430 that car was supper easy to open but almost always slammed shut because it didnt have enough tension. the 06 gs430 is just right and it closes itself as an added bonus

^ I can't wait for someone to find a way of installing a remote open. (not just release the latch)

Thx guys for the comments. Was just used to the 2003 gs I sold. I've only had the 3gs for four days now so I'm still getting familiarized with it.

Hello, But my 08 trunk is a little bit heavier to lift up. What could be the problem please, or is it normal?

A few people on another thread that I started said that replacing the trunk struts would maybe help this cause. I agree that trunk seems too heavy. Btw, there are some replacement struts on RockAuto for about $10/ea. before shipping. I am going to order a pair for my trunk and another pair (different part #) for my hood. Just my .02 cents.

Fr those shocks are annoying. Opening the trunk is an absolute chore, first you gotta struggle to lift it, then make sure it doesn't slam open, and the auto close feature is kinda cool you don't have to slam it

Just a couple more mechanism to go bad you have the shocks and close assist, i loved the 2nd gen trunks without a spoiler easy and simple.

Agreed bud. My 09 450H trunk seems not as smooth and easy to open up as my 04 IS300 was.. matter of fact not as easy as most cars I've opened trunks for.

Could either just be the way the car is made or the shocks/hydraulics on these things wear much easier.. My hood shocks are gone too, it doesn't support itself when it's lifted for more than 5 seconds or so.. Anyone else experience this?
