Default My new car!! :)

I bought this a week and a half ago.. its an 06 gs430

I got the windows tinted the other day... i did 35% on the rear 5 and 50% up front... i have ONE question, why is it that 50% is so bloody dark on the front? The guy at the tint shop said its because my windows have a slight tint to them already and it looks really dark even with 50%... is this true? can i get a lighter tint than 50%?

The GS does have an existing tint on the windows... It is about a 93%. In Chicago, it is now legal to have all 4 windows tinted as long as it is not darker than 35%. Having said that, there is a 5% buffer added to that so windows that test at 30% are still legal. When i tested my GS with 35% film it came back at 28% due to the existing tint so I went with 40% all around to avoid ticketing, and i think it looked better.

Additionally, if you notice on the lighter tints, they have a slightly greenish hue to them when on the GS... This is because that built in tint has a green hue to it that really comes out when a darker tint is added.

Nice ride and congrats, I had the same wheels as you which i'm selling now...I had springs but I'm glad I went with coilovers for it's adjustable dampening. The NF210 springs that I had before still made the car felt a little too floaty and soft for my taste, but for the price I got them for i guess I can't complain.

Congrats on the new car. The reason your tint also looks darker is b/c you have a dark color interior.

You could also just change the rear windows and rear windshield to 50% as well... That way all of the windows would match, and all of the windows would look lighter.

yeah I like having the rear @ 35, rear windows should always be dark imo.. IF i get pulled over and ticketed for having the front @ 50, i will probably retint them @ 70%.
