Suede Dash Mat for GS

1 Attachment(s)
Ok, so I HATE the look of dash mats, however, I needed one for my GS because of the horrible glair I get from my dash reflecting into the windshield. SO.... here it is...

Oh, I had this same problem with my 06 GS430 also. That color and reflection creates such a horrible glair.

I don't much care for it, even though its made well. It DID completely solve my reflection issue though. So, the value outweighs the look to me.

CAK 500 04-14-11 11:43 AM

Sorry for being negative, but I think that looks horrible. I'd prefer to wear sunglasses. Or get in an accident even.

Sorry bro, but the truth is...it looks awful :thumbdn::thumbdn::sai:

Ap1_Alan 04-14-11 12:11 PM

I've never had any glare problems. Do you use some type of dressing (like armor all) on your dash?

Kcook700 04-14-11 12:14 PM

Dash mats bring back memories. I think my parents had a carpet style one in an old truck of ours. It even had stitching on the passenger side... Sweet..

Personally, not a fan of them though. Maybe use less butter on the dash when you clean it. A dry microfiber cloth takes the dust off fine and should keep the glare down. If your state allows, tint your windshield.

BinaryJay 04-14-11 12:16 PM

Yikes! ...

IronCobra 04-14-11 12:18 PM

Not sure why I get such a bad glair. The dash is never armor alled or anything. The most I do to clean it is get a very lightly damp towel and wipe it down. It is actually very distracting when driving. I probably won't keep it but thought I would give it a try. It does the job, but sacrifices the look. I must repeat, I HATE the way it looks too. It's probably not as bad as you think in person, but it is pretty bad.

kuWuPt 04-14-11 12:23 PM

ahhhhh noooooooo... looks horrible.. tint your front windshield.

Kcook700 04-14-11 12:24 PM

I got it! Lower your car so you are farther away from the sun, LOL ...:p

IronCobra 04-14-11 12:37 PM

It's been removed

If I die because the reflection blinds me from an oncoming Airbus A380, then I'm blame all you naysayers.

koolemac 04-14-11 12:43 PM

It don't look bad.

Yang1815 04-14-11 03:26 PM

there's nothing wrong with function over form except that it seems to cover the passenger airbag?

charmz 04-14-11 05:12 PM

Get a pair of sunglasses.

This is a close second to hot pink wheels!

bigblack06 04-14-11 05:16 PM

I agree with him ^
Wow bad choice, sorry gotta say no no, glare or not thats terrible!

gsthree 04-14-11 05:21 PM

Bad choice or good choice doesn't matter, if it makes it easier to see, I would leave it!
If your doing a car show then you have an option of taking it off. Boom problem solved. My .03

Kcook700 04-14-11 09:17 PM

^i agree. Really just giving you a bad time, but if it works for you, f'it, leave it be.

swtjlsy 04-14-11 09:20 PM

Dash mat what are you thinking Justin lmao taking it back to the early 90's lol

Jowee 04-14-11 09:30 PM

I would have done shag carpet.

dunnojack 04-14-11 10:19 PM

why do you care what others think.......

it's ugly, but it works, and it's not intrusive.

do you drive a lot during the noon hours? That's when the dash reflection would be the worst.

I knew you would chime in eventually :D

Don't worry, I ordered you one too......in neon green..... :woohoo:

designo 04-15-11 06:36 AM

Dude, you're not a trucker! LOL

bigblack06 04-15-11 08:08 AM

To each his own, wasnt tryin to mean but that just doesn't look the part of the car I think but like everyone says its your car. What I don't understand is how is the dash reflecting that bad, I would think the carpet would do the same in the sunlight.

IronCobra 04-15-11 08:56 AM

I agree. Must be the 100% sunlight we get almost year round here. Plus, I do quite a bit of interstate driving during the day, so that is part of the cause.

Don't worry though. It's been removed.

canatto 04-15-11 10:42 AM

A good pair of sun glasses with quality polarizing coating should take care of the worst dash glare.

Did that matt deaden our dash rattle?:)

Don't move it on account of us if it does the job than keep it!:D

I'm so tired of the reflection too and thinking of this mat/carpet. is that suppose to be black or grey?

ILLYWILL 05-31-13 11:21 AM

put 50% tint on your windshield

Polarized sunglasses help a lot. Get a cheap pair at Wal-mart and try it out...

LOL... That member sold that car long ago.
I think you can get those mats From Xenon Depot (KB Car stuff)

isam250 05-31-13 03:13 PM

Polarized sunglasses

worker 05-31-13 04:34 PM

Polarize sunglasses help but only a little. Reducing the problem but not completely. It's annoying when driving a patches of trees, the sun go in and out creating a flickering and the reflection enhance it right onto the windshield. I agree this mat doesn't look good. I guess the best is to remove the dash and paint it mat black.

I've been digging around see how the mat look on the GS and found this. It's old but I thought it's better than starting a new thread.

crombie92 06-04-13 04:50 AM

Buy some polarized sunglasses dude and maybe a lite tint on the windshield would be a better idea. 3M makes car tints for the windshield at 80% or so, reduce glare and uv rays and heat all in I swift move.

cali108 05-29-14 01:01 PM

What brand was that? do you still have it?, my mom wants one lol

C-SupraTT 05-29-14 03:25 PM

I wouldn't tint the windshield, as it's illegal. Plus you'll get it all scraped up in Texas when you replace the inspection or registration stickers.

darinmg 05-29-14 05:36 PM

I tint all my windshields, and I'm in CA. The stuff I use is visually transparent, but blocks a large percentage of UV. The difference in the dash temp with and without this stuff is significant. I'm not exactly sure what it's called.

GunnyFitz 05-30-14 07:04 AM

I am one who LOVES a shiny dash and entire interior so I look for those cleaners and fluids that leave it looking wet and deep! However, I think your dash mat looks pretty good and if it accomplishes getting rid of the GLARE (not glair) then go with it and don't care what anyone else says about it man! Been looking at those for my truck as a matter of fact too!

swtjlsy 06-01-14 08:50 AM

just pull the dash out wrap and put back in
