Default Low MPG?

So after driving my GS for a little under a month, i have notices that my MPG isnt high as i expected.. i drive 90 miles a day for work all majority of it being highway... i only get like 22 mpg.. i see others posting like 32 mpg on their GS.. any suggestions????

i was expecting to get much better MPG on my GS versus my old BMW..(the 545 being a V8) but i am averaging the same amount MPG..

replace your o2 sensor, even tho the engine check light isn't on does not mean o2 sensor is bad.

usually for the dealer to cover a warranty item something has to occur for them to replace them, usually!

You have a couple of factors against you: NJ winter is cold and that kills you cause your car will burn more gas to get warmed up... also, I think the awd get slightly less mpg's than rwd.

I'm in Houston and my last several tanks have been around 23 mpg... but I haven't been behaving like I should... (i.e. I drive "spirited"). Back in 2008 when gas was $4+ I think i tried to behave and drive like a grandma and got 28 mpg easily daily driving. On a drive to dallas (about 260 miles) I got 31-32 mpg doing 70-75 mph, but I wanted to kill myself doing that. Only reason I did it was because my friend was going to be late meeting me so there was no point in driving faster..

Try switching the AT switch (located next to the seat heater switch) to ECT position. In my case it made noticeable difference.

my odometer is usually at around 21 +/- .5. this is in light footed driving, in 50/50 city/hwy. maybe 60 city, 40 hwy. but true mpg is one mpg less than that....

Lately, I avg about 18-19 local. Add in highway to that (50/50) then maybe roughly 23ish. Still may have been because of the cold weather. Before I had my valve spring recall done, I was avging 25ish w/ about 60 highway (heavy traffic) 40 local and that was when the weather wasn't as cold. Don't really think it's cause of what Lexus did to the motor when they did my recall, but possibly the weather.
