Loaner was from Chevy dealer I bought the car from. I made them bring it into Lexus this last time so Lexus would bill them and not me. I am in south FL.

You can fight the RLC ticket. They are required to capture not just photo but video of the incident. Usually you can see it on the website. Have you seen the video?

^ here they only require pictures.

The pic they took showed speed limit 35mph and I cross the line doing 34mph with the brake lights ON. Another pic show me in the middle of the intersection doing "--" which mean they couldn't read my speed cause I finally come to a dead stop.

But anyway, not worth fighting it. $75.

I thought the standard warranty was 50K and 5 years. Wouldn't all this be covered under warranty since it is an 06 with 44K?

The car was initially purchased mid 2005 which makes this car 5 1/2 years old from time of purchase. I believe the power train is still under warranty.

I finally got my Lexus back 2 days ago after 2 weeks in the shop. It was a faulty VGRS actuator that cost $3200 to fix. But the dealer paid for it along with my rental so I really can’t complain about how they handled it.

Now that I can finally enjoy the car I have some first impressions, nit picks, and hopefully maybe get some questions answered.

My 2 previous cars were Lexus sc400’s, a 95 and 98 which I loved, but this GS430 is in a whole other league. I guess I don’t have to tell you this is a sweet riding car. I love the refinement. Although it is bigger than the sc, it feels quicker and more agile. I am in Lexus heaven.

Now that I have sung its praises here are the nit picks. The nav is a disappointment. My 2 year old portable Garmin is much more intelligent: smarter routes, smarter adjustments when you deviate from the routes, and I liked that the Garmin displays speed limits of the road your on. The Lexus nav seems crude by comparison. I upgraded the dvd to 10.1 hoping that would improve it but it really didn’t.

There is a little rattle in the dash over rough pavement. Not too bad. Nothing that the radio at a normal volume doesn’t drown out. But I wish I could fix it.

I would prefer an intermittent wiper to the auto wiper I have. The manual says I can change this but I have to go to the Lexus dealer to do it. Does anyone have any tips on how to change this?

2 rear sensors are out which makes the park assist useless in reverse. Lexus says it is a $700 repair. Big bucks for a non essential.

I dropped the keys the other day and it shattered into 6 different pieces. I was able to gather them up and snap it back together and it still worked, but damn. On a dark night somewhere, that could have left me stranded. I guess from now on I will use the copy with the leather case.

Despite the nit picks however I do love the car. It is a pleasure to drive more so than any car I have ever owned. Thanks to everyone for participating in this thread.

The nav do allow you a few route options that you can pick.

What adjustment do U want when you miss the road? It reroute by itself.

The speed limit change. Lexus want you to follow the road and not the nav. In fact you are not suppose to look at the nav when you drive.

The nav is very stubborn about the route. I took a different route home yesterday and I was a mile from home and the nav would still have me take a u-turn and take a 5 mile detour to get me back on it's route to get home. It eventually saw things my way, but way too late. I am still learning and perhaps I just need to tweek my skills to set the preferred route first. Maybe I need to calibrate it because it gives a different address than where I am actually at. But slight differences are normal even with the Garmin.

How can I switch the wipers to intermittent? The manual says I need to go to the dealer.

I was able to create my preferred route by adding my preferred roads. But its too bad it first comes up with an inferior route first that I have to adjust. It has done this for several destinations so far.

You can adjust the nav to have which preference.

The *** for the wiper do have int. Just move it out of the auto.

Considering the cost of the option, the cost to keep them updated, and the fact that they are almost always outclassed by portable devices even during the same year that the car is made has made nav on my cars something I've never cared to pay any extra for.

It's nice to have it built in just for less clutter or the convenience of not having to stick something on the car (if you hide it when not in use) but it's just sad how much more functionality you can get for so much less money if you just get a nice Garmin and replace it with the latest and greatest thing out there every few years.

Smaller screen size on the Garmins is a minus as well but most of the time, you're barely looking at the screen and just listening to the directions anyway.
