Hi all, I replaced my 2006 GS430 wheels with wheels off a sc430 with winter tires on them. The wheels have the sensors in them, but yes the idoit lights are on.

What I have read is that I need to take the car to the dealer where they will have to remove the tires to get some #'s. After this they will program. Is this right?

My other Lexus is a RX and I just changed the wheels (no sensors in the winter set) hit the switch and no idoit lights on!

Is there an easier way? I don't care about the the whole concept anyway.

if you have a discount tire local to you they can pull the sensor codes. you still have to take it to the dealer but some tire shops have the tool for this to prevent taking off the tires. the dealer will have to remove the tires to get the required info to sync them up.

 

Dumb question, but what does that switch for tire tpms do under the dash? Next to the OBDII port there is a switch that has the same logo as that flat tire logo for TPMS. Does this reset something?

 

Resets the target tire pressure for the TPMS system.

 

As Passnu2 said, take your car to the Discount/America tire nearby or most legit tire shops, the serial numbers should be read by a handheld device wirelessly without taking apart the wheels/tires. (unless SC430's TPMS is different) At least it's what I've done with mine.

The tire shop should also be able to reset (or better, "add" as a second set) your car with the OBDII. The warning light will go away once it's done.

If you take it to dealer, you'll be charged for $169 or something like that but you MUST make sure their tech is up to the task to "reset TPMS", a simple task you say? but was not a case for me.
