Need Advice - rearview mirror shakes
I was told there is a bracket that is part of the windshiled that the mirror attaches to. It's this bracket they say is not fitting well even after they tightened it. It is much better now and I can live with the minor vibrations. My thought was that this was a good opportunity to get the mirror vibration fixed with the benefit of new glass. The glass is a little pitted which can be seen when it is sunny. But I tend to avoid breaking the factory seal if it is not necessary.

Thanks for the instructions, but I was able to locate the screw last week after looking around at another forum that explained how another Lexus/Toyota model had theirs attached. I should have looked more carefully the first time around!
I didn't take pictures, but it is located right behind the rearview mirror. It is recessed in a bit so you may need a flashlight to visually see the hex screw.
Just screwed it in maybe 1/2 turn - no more vibration while driving!

Saw this fix, tried it and it works. No more vibration!!! All it took was a T-20 sized star bit and less than a 1/2 turn.
this screw that you are tightening, do you have to remove anything to get to it or is it just behind the mirror itself?
A friend of mine just told me that he just got a recall notice for his little Suzuki for ... rearview mirror vibrating. Is it possible that this is next on Toyota's list? (Mine never vibrates... knocking on wood.)
Edit: Oops, I must have misunderstood him... I looked it up, it's the side mirrors apparently falling off.

I have an 08 GS350 and I just had my rearview mirror replaced due to vibrating under warranty. Mine however only vibrated when the mirror was hot. Still can't figure that out. It still vibrates when it's hot. Just tried tightening that screw. It did tighten so will see if it does the trick.
