I have Xentec HID conversion kit.

So, now I am trying to do the same with my high beams on the Lexuses. I am a little hesitant about 100w, but 85w looks as an attractive option. The stock bulb, correct me if I am wrong, is 60w. I want to know, if anybody out there actually had any experience with higher wattage bulbs.
correct me if I'm wrong -but your MB has glass lights cover versus the RX plastic frame cover (the front of the headlights). The MB glass disipates heat better than would our RX headlights (it can hold the heat better while it cools).
This in turn will cause poor disipation of heat(RX) -which will result in something melting down. Search for sylvania lights. I cant remember which lights is it-but they make headlight bulb that produces a stong white light output with still the same wattage. I beleive BMW use them on certains models with out hids.

I don't know which kind of bulbs are OEM - but if they are the 9005-9006 (hi-lo), you can buy 9011-9012 to replace which draw the same current but run 'hotter' inside and emit more light, probably about twice as much (intensity). I had put them on my older RX300, and they made a real difference. I had purchased them from:
http://www.finemotoring.com/
where you can read all about them. They worked really well, and, as stated, draw no more current than the OEMs and had no effect on the plastic housing.
[But maybe those bulb types are not yours?].
Good luck!

Thank you for the link. I've never heard of those. I will do some research.

I always wipe the bulbs with 95% alcohol prior the installation, yet one of the bulb EXPLODED inside of the housing...

Thank you for clarification, because I was under impression that your headlight was damaged by heat from a hugh wattage bulb.

So far I haven't heard from anybody that actually experienced any heat damage from such a bulb.

So when will these lights be turned on? If you disabled your DRL then I presume the high beam light only turns on when your hi beam lights are on, correct? Maybe I'm missing something...

Yes, you are absolutely correct. That's why I think I can get away with it.

If you *never* use high beams for more than a couple of minutes, that's probably valid. But, alone on a long dark road a year from now, will you remember to apply a time limit? And what will that time limit be?

I've seen bi-xenon conversion kits somewhere; converting your low beams to HID bi's would seem to accomplish this with much lower risk. google hid bi-xenon conversion kit

I just don't think anything bad will happen. I posted the same question on a Moscow-based Russian Lexus forum. There are several people using these type of bulbs in their cars and noone had any problems. So far I have this:

1. Some people usem without problems.
2. Not one person told me "It happend to me or to someone I know".
3. A whole lot of people have theories of what could or should happen.

So I ordered a pair, it's only 8 bucks anyway. Will see what happens.

Well, I am not too impressed with the performance of the 100w bulbs. They are definately brighter then the stock bulbs, but I did not run them long enough to test for overheating. I ended up installing Nokya bulbs. I understand they are not top-of-the-line by any means, but I did not want to experiment with anything expensive.

Has anybody ever used LEDs bulbs for highs? Something like this, for example:

There is a guy on toyotanation used them, read post #22 here:
