It didn't take too long for the tech to point out the coins placed in the coin slot causing the rattling noise this whole time.

You can imagine my face as I walked out of there..... LOL
LMAO...that's pretty funny.

It seems that somewhere along the line we've all forgotten that cars and the things we put inside them make noises.

this and how quiet modern cars can be. I initially had some squeaks/rattles in mine until they did the TSBs on it, but am convinced that regular road/vehicle noise would have masked the same noises in any of our other (older) cars/SUVs.

Actually I think previous generations of Lexus and current Audis and BMWs figured out how to build a car that can be driven on cobbled surfaces, train tracks, potholes, without making anything other than suspension/tire noise.

But Lexus around 2005 forgot how to do that, and so you end up with a conditioned audience not getting what it is used to.

I have also confused coins rattling in the coin holder with a rattle. So I make sure the coins are full so they don't move.

I think it was February I drove DaveG4s LS 430, Lobuxracers IS F and my GS 450h if the OP wants a comparo

I just rode in an MB C230 (probably a 4 year old car) and it had NO creaks. Lexus needs to get it's act together. Creaks and rattles with impeccable quality may be fine for Toyota but unacceptable for Lexus. When quality slips, what does Lexus have left? I'd rather lease BMWs at that point.

Sounds good why dont u lease a bmw and have check engine light coming on every month. Then when youre engine oil is leaking they will tell u its normal.

It's amazing how defensive people are on here when comparing Lexus to another other brand. I used to have a BMW and it wasn't great with age (i.e., after warranty - hence my statement about leasing). My point is, German cars have improved and Lexus has gone down a bit in my view. If Lexus loses its quality edge, it's hard to justify purchasing a Lexus. I don't think there would be much disagreement that Lexus used to be better qualitywise.

For me, I would go with the 06 UL Lexus LS430. It's a luxurious car and it has the widest and bright light output from those krazy projectors.

Believe me i am not getting defensive, but i have 3 friends with bmw and its horrible. Correct they have no rattles but it matters what u want to give and get. Yes lexus quality took a dip, but how many other brands also did?

Part of my frustration is that rattles though more of a nuisance detracts from a luxury brand. If something as simple as rattle and squeaks can't be engineered out, how are complicated items being engineered? Lexus is in a much better place to fix these nuisances than other makes that have more substantial reliability issues.

My point is, luxury car owners care about these details otherwise we'd be driving a Toyota, cars also of high quality (except for the overblown issues recently). I've owned a 1995 Lexus ES300, 2001 VW Passat and 2002 BMW 330i Sport and they all were rattle and squeak free. If Lexus doesn't get their act together, they'll lose customers especially if this issue is beyond the GS.

I own a flagship BMW, and a Porsche.... and I absolutely adore my GS. It is the best daily driver I have ever owned. Even when modded, it still drives like a dream.

Yes, the brakes may be lousy, and you feel it carries a heavy weight.. but that's not why I bought it. It is quiet, smooth, reliable and most importantly... awesome AIRCON!!!!!

i love how you put it. we all get cars for what they are, and we need to have the right expectation to really enjoy it. lexus is good at what they do, so if you get the car for that reason, then they are great cars
