I'd have to be skeptical about anything coming out early. If anything, with all the troubles Toyota is going through, it would probably be prudent for them to hold back any planned releases and make sure they've got everything covered and locked down tight. More bad press in a subsequent generation of cars would be disaster.
why we have dozens of threads on why this class car should have more power and how the gs300 in 06 with 245 hp was underpowered
I don't agree the 06 is underpowered....but I'm happy the 07 bumped it up.
I am tired of changing cars. Over the last 15 years I have been in and out of so many cars it's hard to remember them all. Since I mod them all it's been a colossal waste of money.
I really wanted to keep this car so I'm not looking forward to the temptation of seeing a new model on the road.
One thing for sure, I won't buy a first year model no matter what happens. They are overpriced and often have 1st year issues.

Because a GS250 will mean that my GS300 will no longer have the smallest displacement in the GS family. That's all. :P
I really don't agree with the whole GS underpowered argument, well, not for getting around town. I actually had a chance to finally drive a 350 the other week when I was at the dealership and honestly I couldn't really tell a whole ton of difference in general drivability between the two. After everything I read on this forum, I was expecting the 350 to make the 300 feel like a complete dog but it wasn't the case. The 350 was a bit punchier in general but it wasn't a knock my socks off experience I was afraid of having. =)
I do agree it is underpowered on paper, when doing direct comparisons with competitors etc. On paper it looks bad, in practice, it feels fine to me.

BMW sells a BMW 520i in Europe. I'm sure the people who buy it are happy that they can get a 5-series on the cheap instead of settling for a 3-series.
However, making underpowered large cars is not exactly consistent with their branding of being "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Its ironic that BMW phased out smaller 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder engines in the US market due to pressure from Lexus.
However, I think in this area of ever increasing fuel costs, smaller engines make sense for people who drive a lot of miles and want to do so in comfort without massive gas bills.
Of course its bad for people like me - low mileage recreational drivers for whom gasoline expense is trivial.
