Smile Been lurking - first time posting with questions

Hi everyone. I have been reading this forum for hours on end over the last 2 months since I got my 2008 GS 350.

Thanks to this forum, I have already had the Navi Hack done and am enjoying, uh, I mean my passengers are now enjoying entering GPS addresses and phone numbers while the car is in motion.

I have started looking at wheels and have a couple of questions that I haven't been able to find the answer to.

1.) I am considering putting 19s or 20s on my car and have read that most people think the vehicle needs to be lowered if I do so. Are the lower spings (tanabe, F Sports, etc) all that is needed to lower the vehicle?

2.) If I put on wheels, I want my vehicle to still look very professional (I'm a 30 year old white guy working an executive type role at a corporation). Would you recommomend 19s or 20s? Would a 1 inch lowering job be sufficient for either of those options?

3.) What is the best offset for ensuring that the 350s wheels are flush with the frame?

Thanks for everybody's contributions (not to just this thread, but the entire forum). I've spent a lot of time reading and have a feeling I'll be spending even more money thanks to you guys.

welcome to cl..

i think 1) & 2) really depend on your preference.. as far as offset goes, need to be little more specific about the wheel size and how far you are willing to go..

welcome to clublexus

1) your call. to me springs are never enough, coilovers are my only answers. to me, coilovers give better performance and ride quality for the height i want

2) really depends on your definition of "look professional". wheels imho are mostly cosmetic for your purposes, it won't make the car look "unprofessional" unless you get something way off. 19s or 20s won't make much difference, 1" drop will always help

3) i think the wheel thread has quite some info on this

welcome to CL. to answer your questions:

1) if you plan on lowering more than 1", go with coilovers as rominl suggested. if you just want a modest drop like me, then tanabe NF210 spring (or equivalent) should be sufficient.

2) for wheels to look "professional", i assume you mean look classy when you take clients or your boss in your car. imho, 19" is a tad small, so you should go with 20". as for brands, there are many different ones to choose from. i personally like Work wheels, but Rays, Vossen, Weds, and other jdm wheels are all good too.

3) conservative offset would be +38 front and +45 rear. but you would also need to look at tire size as well. more aggressive offsets are possible if you want VIP style fitment, but that may require more extensive work like rolling the fenders or trimming the tabs.
