If the new model is not a failure like many of the newer models (RX, HS, redesign on LS, LX) I would wait a year and buy one the next year.

I still like my 08. I would not mind getting a new 2011 GS though. lol But if its going to resemble RX or HS then I'll pass

Wow, I'm surprised you think the new LS redesign is a fail. I think it's the best of the LF designs. It certainly looks better than the new BMW 7 Series. Although I like Audi A8, I thought they were too conservative with the redesign. MB S series is nice though and was boldest on their redesign so some may hate it. I personally think it has too much of the maybach shape and was never a fan of the Maybach. In terms of interior, that's a different story.

^^ I was referring to the refresh in 2010, especially the hybrid model. The 07-09 LS is the best LS since its inception IMO.

1) First of all if it is good looking then I will consider it. If it looks ugly or Toyota-esque like the HS or the 2GS then I wont bother.

2) If good looking, I will check out the interior and the specs. Its will need to have an interior at least as nice as the current LS. If it gets a lesser interior, then it won't compare to latest M56 or 550i which are furnished to flagship standards (metal buttons and switches, lots of wood, leather lined dash). I will also look at tech features, and I will want latest gadgets like an around-view monitor, effective iPhone integration with ability to sync contacts, a usable dial-by-voice function on par with Microsoft Sync, easy to sync audio system, wide touchscreen monitor with 3D nav, traffic, weather and information. I would also want a paddle shifter with rev-matching and a nice exhaust.

3) If it passes 1 and 2, I will test drive it, and if it drives well - i.e. does well on my rough local roads, but also handles well for fast cornering on ramps, then I will buy it in the highest performance variety. Relative to the current model main thing is that it should not ride rough on normal city streets. LS460 Sport like suspension would make me very happy.

If it doesn't meet the bar on either criterion 1, 2 or 3, I will choose either an Infiniti M56S or a BMW 550i. I am fairly certain the 2011 550i will most of my three of my criteria, but I prefer Lexus if it also meets these criteria. The only criteria BMW misses is it lacks touchscreen, however iDrive doesn't have a motion lock-out which is a plus over Lexus.

Only interested in the GSh and a GS F and as you all know I will wait 2/3 years. If there are some special editions again that would be great.

I just hope it looks great. Not a fan of most redesigns in this class (E/M37/5) so far....

I'm tired of changing cars and really considering keeping this one. I may add a car but the ice350 will prolly stay.

I'm already thinking about selling my GS430 and buying a all wheel drive Honda Crosstour hahaha

I don't care about the new body style. If I keep the Lexus, it's getting driven into the ground.

Driven to the ground. I'm not the type of person that enjoys kindling campfires with money every few years. I don't expect a big departure in styling or engine options in the next generation. I predict that a mid-model refresh of the 4GS will find us moving mostly to performance hybrid only options, though.

Bottom line - new doesn't necessarily mean better looking - look what Bangle did with recent BMW's.

Interesting. I like all the redesigns in this class. I think they are all better than their predecessors (not hard in the case of BMW!). I particularly like the look of the new M56 and the new 550. Benz I am less hot on but think it's much better than the old E.

It definitely depends on the design as well as the new specs and features. I'm still very much attracted to my 3GS and looking forward to hitting 20k on the odometer soon! I probably can't quite justify purchasing a new one yet. Also with all this Toyota witch hunt crap going on I'm still waiting to see if my Lex will hold it's value. I don't like taking unnecessary losses.
