Satellite Radio question
Just bought 06 GS 300 No Nav or ML. I was wondering having the satellite buttom doesn't necessarily mean I have the satellite tuner..right? I tuned the radio to 000 to try to get the radio ID# but nothing. I tried it in am, fm1, and fm2. Am i doing something wrong or do I just not have satellite radio??

so you either need the factory tuner / antenna setup, or go aftermarket
When you press SAT, what do you see on the display ? Does it actually change to SAT ch 001 or whatever ? if it does, it means you have the tuner. If nothing happens you dont have the tuner. Also on the 06 gs300 sirius antenna was a huge triangle thing on the front windshield, sometimes something on the rear deck or trunk lid.
if you get stuff like vaistech, it doesn't really matter if your car has the AM-SAT button or not
good point. i think without the tuner you can't even get into sat mode. when you press the button it will just keep in AM

I also wanted connectivity for my IPOD touch 2nd gen.
I ordered a PXAMTYA ISIMPLE media gateway TY1 Sirius Connect Kit. I think list is 229.99 and shipping is free. This fit both my 06 GS300 and ,y wifes 07 ES350 non touch screen radio.
The kit consists of a media gateway, harness Sirius connect cable and sirius connect tuner. The antenna comes with the tuner. The kit will fit in the dash behind your factory radio so you have the factory look,
Opted to have my antenna (magnet mount) put on my passenger side front speaker near the windshield. It works well although I may get a moment or two of acquiring signal more often than I did in my last car which had the factory radio on the roof. But, being away from the elements, the inside antenna should last longer than an outside non factory antenna.
Hope this helps. I'll bet they would be open to a group buy as I did get a discount for buying more than kit.
Hope this helps everyone.
FYI, the factory sat tuner kit is no longer available for the 2006, I know because I wanted one to install in the trunk myself. Swell lexus shows the kit dis-continued as well as my local so cal dealer. Anyone with info on how to come up with one, please let me know!!
You might also try eBay. Ive seen all types of radios tuners.
Also you might want to go Sirius. They are the same company. But they are still run like two different companies. With different programming.
