Default Does anybody use HID relays?

I bit the bullet and ordered a 3000K Xtreme kit from XenonDepot with Steve's help, with the plan on making my fog lights useful for something.

Now, this kit comes with a relay harness which - I think - is "optional" but it seems it would be silly to not use it, even if just for peace of mind. I've read all of the threads about getting back there to replace the bulbs themselves but I've come up empty as far as suggestions from others as far as how the best way to route the relays from the ballasts through the engine compartment and to the battery might be.

I can't imagine finding a clear path where they are out of the way and secure will be easy so, if somebody else has already done it or has any suggestions I'd appreciate not having to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks!

I didn't bother using the relay when I installed my Xtreme HID kit for my fogs, mainly because I thought the relay cables might be a bit on the short side, especially with the driver's side fog light. Also, I wanted to preserve a clean engine bay and didn't want unnecessary wires cluttering it up.

I used them and it was a pain for finding a location on the driver's side. The hard part was finding a suitable ground on that side. There are a few diy threads with locations that I followed. On the passenger side, theres more room for different places. Wiring isn't too bad, just run along engine bay and the cover helps conceal most of it.

No problems to report of with the kit sans relays?

Works flawless without a relay. Not sure if that still applies if you were trying to integrate a 55W HID kit though.

You dont need the relay harness, unless you're trying to install HID's on a 1985 car...

Well, my passenger side HID is not working right now but I am pretty certain this is completely unrelated to the fact that I am not using relays. I suspect that either the fuse or the ballast is to blame. I will look into it when it's greater than 5C outside.
