You know, the most I have ever filled in to an empty tank is 16.5 gallons even after the range read 0 for 15 miles, we have 18.5 gallon tank, theoretically , you have 2 gallons of gas, I bet there is a good 2.5 gallons left when it reaches 0

 

It is different for everybody, the display is not exact. If you are low on gas, and only add 1 gal, your Mileage to Empty distance will not even change. And fuel pump is cooled by gas in the tank, when the gas is low, it begins to overheat, shortening its life. I am pulling into gas station when I have about 50 miles left, before the Low Fuel light even comes on.
