The Lexus dealers in my area all use the same body shop, and this shop also does repairs for the BMW dealers. I would look for this kind of facility, although obviously geography matters. Bottom line, determine where your Lexus dealer sends their vehicles for body work, if they don't do it on site.

Don't know if it's true or not, but I heard the only way accidents are reported are from insurance claims. That's the only way people can tell if it was in an accident. I guess the only way around it is if you settle the claim with the guy directly, bypass the insurance company, and find a bodyshop on your own.

^, you expect the guy to pay for the damages for both cars on his own if he has insurance ? it would cost thousands!

Didn't say it was gonna be cheap or that it was the best option . But if you want to keep the accident record clear, that's the only option. I guess in your case, it's not an option. But in smaller accidents, it happens all the time.

I've heard of a lot of people settling the damages themselves because they don't want their insrance premiums really high, it all depends on the person.

This statement makes no sense.... "After an accident, a car is never the same" How can a new bumper make a car any different lol?? this statement should refer to massively damaged cars, where lets say the suspension, or something mechanical gets damaged, not something superficial...

Anytime a panel is replaced or repainted, it's not the same as when it left the factory. I've seen some very good work come out of high end shops, but I've never seen a repair that couldn't be detected if you know what to look for. It may drive the same if it's a cosmetic repair, but repairs are detectable due to paint matching, overspray, removed paint on bolt heads, etc.

I don't' know if insurance in your country allows for it, but in certain states in the USA, you can ask for diminished value which is paid to compensate you that the car has been repaired and trade or resale is likely now lower.
