Default intake for GS460

ok so i looked around and found that the is-f is built of the ls/gs460 engine... we should have already known that but besides that i saw someone on here use a gen2 v8 gs intake in a 3rd gen gs430 and he had minor fixes to make it fit....
i bought a is-f intake made by K&N and it bolted up rather nicely i had to get a longer vacuum hose and that was it... even the manf. heat shield bolts up in the engine compartment...

i have everything set up nd running...

but the problem is that sometimes the check engine and vsc lights show up so the first time i disconnected the battery and reconnected the error codes went away

after a run around town no lights... then the next start up the lights kicked on agian?
anyone know any thing?????

but other than that this car is performing and running fine... just a little lag in the beginning but thats understandable with the gs.. sounds nice to

let me know if anyone can help me out here

That dues to the fact that now you have a diff. air mass calculation. So your air mass sensor tries to accomodate the new air ratio. This gives you the check engine light. The lag in the beginning happens because your throttle control is closing instead of opening b/c too much air comming in at startup.

haha that was me that had the intake on the GS430...I sold it already. I have the same engine as the 2gen GS430. I actually didnt make any mods to it but I needed a little trim to the mounting tab.

On your car have the codes read. You want to make sure your car is not running lean in bank 1 or bank 2. That should be the only reason you throw the CEL with the intake. How much larger is the pipe compared to your OEM pipe?

for trying this out!!!

I would think the SRT intake pipe would also fir the GS460, but you would need to test fit one to confirm. (that is what I had installed on my GS430)

In order to clear you CEL, GS460 or GS430, you will need something like an APEXI NEO "or" find out if someone took over the SRT (swift racing technologies) old set up. SRT closed up shop. SRT included a little black box to correct the A/F ratios with their intake pipe. If you read in the 2nd ged GS400/GS430 you should be able to find further information regarding this old set up. Might even find one for sale from a fellow CL member.

Plenty of CL vendors I'm sure would be able to help. Perhaps the vendor, I think its RR??, seems to have capabilities. You need to check with them, just based off some posts I have read and I no longer own a Lexus to confirm.

Good Luck!
