Default Record Rear View Camera

Hi, just out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried to record the feed they get from the rear view camera even if the car is just parked? Is there some technology out there that exists for this?

I was thinking this would be a pretty cool thing in case you get rear ended, keyed or a shopping cart tossed into your back bumper.

Might be easier/cheaper to just install a separate camera for recording instead of trying to figure out how to tap into the stock one.

That's true. Now that I just got this car, I'm paranoid about people jacking it up. My old accord had about 10 door dings, hit and runs, etc.

a rear mounted camera isnt going to help you at all with door dings.

That would require low powered device (pc) that would control recording software. Video feed and trigger signal can be taken right from your NAV plug. I saw someone has posted a wire diagram while ago, so look for it. I was also thinking about installing video surveillance (front, rear, and interior showing driver side) in case I get pulled over by angry trooper, or to capture hit and runs... That would also require extra battery. You don't want to get stuck without juice... I could probably hook it up to my hybrid batteries, but that sounds like a big time project.
